If there's one character that retro-minded gamers can rely on, it's Q*Bert. After coming to PlayStation Network a few years ago, the cursing little schnozz creature made an appearance in the 2012 Disney release Wreck-It Ralph. Now, he's back in gaming mode, as Galaxy Pest Control and Sideline Amusements are releasing a new Q*Bert game for Steam, in conjunction with Sony Pictures Consumer Products.

In this new version of the game, players can play the pixel-perfect arcade original 2D Classic version, along with a new state of the art 3D Rebooted version with upgraded visuals and gameplay, along with additional characters and achievements to unlock.

"With renewed interest in Qbert, in part due to the cameo in the recent Wreck It Ralph animated feature film, we are delighted to re-introduce the game and characters to current fans as well as a new generation of gamers who are experiencing Qbert for the first time," stated Mark Caplan, Vice President, Consumer Products, Worldwide Marketing & Distribution at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

"There are plenty of good new games out there, but there is a certain nostalgic affection for and plenty of playability in some of the old classic games," commented Jamie Ottillie, co-founder and CEO of Galaxy Pest Control. "Robert van Gool, the president and CEO of Gonzo Games, and I got together a couple of years ago and realized we had a shared vision of bringing one of the best of these – Q*bert – to today’s most popular platforms and introduce it to a new generation of gamers. We have a chance to pay homage to the original title while expanding it in some new directions."

The game will be available on Steam for $4.99, and mobile versions will follow later in the year. Q*Bert is also rumored to be coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita, but the publisher didn't confirm those versions. @($*#%!
