The DualShock 4 controller is quite an improvement over Sony's previous controller models, so it would be nice to use it on the old PlayStation 3. Someone over at Reddit has managed to find a creative workaround that allows the controller to work with the elder system.

So here's how it works. First, turn on your PlayStation 3, then head to Settings on the media bar. Access the Accessory Settings option and pick Manage Bluetooth Devices, then go over to Register New Device. The PS3 will then scan for Bluetooth controllers.

From there, press the PS and Share buttons on your PS4 controller so it can be detected. After a few seconds, the light bar will blink, and the PS3 will indicate that the controller will be detected.

Now, there are some technical catches. Doing this will force you to re-sync your controller with the PlayStation 4 when you need to use it again, and not all games work with the controller, as the performance is "somewhat spotty," according to the Reddit post. Still, for those tired of the Dual Shock 3's iffy triggers, it's worth a shot, right?
