Blizzard announced a while back that Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft would soon receive its first substantial expansion in the form of Curse of Naxxramas. The publisher has somewhat narrowed the release window for this expansion, noting that it will arrive in July.

"Just wanted to give everyone a head's up that we are currently targeting to release Curse of Naxxramas during the month of July," said Hearthstone community manager Aratil on the game forums. "Unfortunately, we still have a lot of implementing and bug fixing to get through, so please stay tuned!"

Naxxramas will add 30 new cards, along with a single-player campaign. Aratil adds that pricing details will be revealed on Tuesday, July 1. However, like Arena, players will have the option to pay with in-game gold, continuing Hearthstone's dedication to its free-to-play model.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

And given this team's knack for out-of-nowhere releases, it actually wouldn't surprise me if they added on Tuesday, "Oh, btw, it's out right now."

This is an auto-buy for me. I spend all my gold on packs.

I am guessing it will be 400 gold per wing. Or like $5. So it will be either 1200 gold, or $15 for everything. Since Spider, and Kel'Thuzad are free you only need to buy the 3 wings.

          5$ per attempt?

That was my guess as well. 5 or 6 bucks per wing.

My guess is that they've radically changed their monetization strategy and you'll pay per-boss. It'll be 200 gold per boss.

I stopped at 1500. I figure if that isn't enough to cover it, it'll be pretty easy to top up given their stated one-wing-per-week schedule.

It honestly didn't even occur to me to start saving gold until I started writing this story. I had been blowing it all on failed Arena runs.

None. I plan to just buy packs for money.

I stopped at 2500 or something. I haven't played in almost a month, but I'll probably come back once Naxx is out.

I don't get it. You can actually buy cards you want with gold for this kind of thing? I thought you can only get random packs with gold.

Well, yeah. I meant with my comment that I would just throw $100 at the game and see what falls out, crafting whatever I want from the repeats.
