The Last of Us Remastered received a small price drop for the digital version over the weekend, leading to some consternation among fans who had pre-ordered it at the higher price. Sony has responded by assuring them they'll be receiving a refund for the difference.

The pre-order on the official store had been set at $59.99. Over the weekend it dropped to $49.99, and some people claimed they had been told they wouldn't be given a refund. Sony's Adam Boyes responded on Twitter that a $10 refund would be coming within 5-7 days.

The Last of Us Remastered will include the game, all of the DLC, and commentary from the cast and developers. It's due on July 29.

Was it just a rumour that owners of the game on PS3 will get a discount?

God that was such a dumb thread. His reply to me:

"I've seen the videos and screenshots and read on what the enhancements are. It's a screen resolution increase with texture resolution increase. Shadow resolution increase. Cinematic models for in game amounts to a polygon resolution increase - this sounds a little ridiculous but you have to realize these models all have the same source, they used a tool to lower the resolution the same way you would create models for LOD.

They essentially did nothing to actually remaster the game, it's just using higher numbers on the source materials. There's nothing new."

He lists all of the new stuff and then concludes by saying there is no new stuff. Clearly its not enough for him, but that's his problem. I will enjoy re-experiencing the game again!

Yeah I have plenty of games that I played only one or two hours of , I feel like a 15 min time trial demo should be offered on all games. I think that's fair and requires no time for devs to support

Just depends on your diet. I don't buy games that I intend to get rid of, but that tilts me towards certain genres and away from others.

You pay for the convienence nce of not having to leave your house or having to get up to change discs.

I can download several gigs in a few minutes.

I don't think its unreasonable to consider being able to task switch on a computer/console without having to change physical media. Its not laziness, its just that this isn't 2006 anymore and I want my console to have modern convienences.

If it pre downloads part of it then it's done and unlocked in theory the minute it gets released. Even if it doesn't it usually only takes 1-3 hours to download a game and often times the stores are closed anyway.

That depends on your internet pipe and how far you live from a retail store! I can download a 40GB game in about 40 minutes. Plus you need to add on the time it takes to install the game from disc to the HD.

My wife plays old games all the time too. She plays the Katamaris on 360 and PS3 and Fable 1 through the year every year. I don't trade stuff in until a console is dead anyway. Fuck Gamestop, I hope they die off.

yup, one of the reasons if I buy a game around the time it comes it its usually console as thats the financially smarter thing to do.

I know this will come off as a fat lazy american comment... but swapping discs sucks. This is why nobody buys PC software on disc anymore. Also, I personally dislike the used game market model.

so if a crazed homeless man broke into your house with a gun and put it to your head and asked you why people buy a digital copy and you better answer correctly you would say "I DONT KNOW!?!?!" and he would blow your head off?

I know why people do it, I just don't. It's almost always cheaper up front, and like you said, trade in makes a huge difference too. Hell, with the Gamers Club unlocked at Best Buy, I've traded stuff in for more than I paid for it.

You only get decent deals from trade-ins if it's a recent title. Gamestop offered to buy my copy of Killzone 2 for 25 cents a few years ago. If you plan to get rid of a new game after you beat it you might as well just rent it.

people can hate on you but you're right here. Why would you ever buy a console game digitally when you can trade them in once you're through

I don't know. The only time I buy digital is when Sony does really good PSN sales. Like Tales of Symphonia collection for $10 a while back. It had been $40 retail only a month or two prior.

So I traded in my copy for like, $25, and then grabbed it digital.

            Otherwise, I always go retail.
