Battlefield Hardline beta due for Xbox One

Battlefield: Hardline will get its own special beta on Xbox One.

At this very moment, select PC and PlayStation 4 users are indulging in an early beta for EA's Battielfield Hardline, which was fully revealed this past week at E3 2014. A few of you Xbox One users may be feeling left out in the cold as a result, but don't worry. You'll soon get your turn.

Talking with OXM, DICE general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson explained that a new beta would be on the way to Microsoft's console, so owners of that system can try it out as well.

"We will have a beta on all platforms before release," said Troedsson. "But it won't be this beta on Xbox. It's not going to be the same version, just to be clear."

EA will continue testing out multiplayer in this way to avoid multiplayer problems moving forward…like the ones still hanging over Battlefield 4. "We basically have code in the hands of players already, here at E3. We've never done that before," said Troedsson. "We do it both because we want their feedback of course, but also because in the background we are testing various things. We're going to continue doing more tests like this."

Look for the full Hardline to drop at retail on October 21st.

So they "have code in the hands of players" to test out things but they already have a release date which will be met whether the game is ready or not....good plan EA.

I had received a beta invite, played 2 rounds and uninstalled it. The game is a horrible BF4 mod that shouldn't have the battlefield title on it. Sure it may not be the game type for me but a lot of others agree that the game is not fun at all.

Countless other game companies have public or private betas to test various things and also have a set release date. This is nothing new. Were you unaware of this fact or do you just want to fire a shot at EA?

Speaking of which- it's more likely that Visceral Games is handling the beta since they're the developer.

"Why concepts? Well, about that Early Access stuff, right? Here’s Polygon with the news. Tucked away amongst a lot of fluff speak is the news that EA want to shift to Early Access models too. It makes sense. After you’ve embraced the idea of games as service, where else is there to go other than let’s see if we can sell games in development too?"

Beta just means demo where if you criticize the beta in any way gamers on internet forums will tell you to STFU because it's a beta and the game is not finished yet. Very smart move by developers.
