During its pre-E3 press conference today, Nintendo unveiled an innovative new third-person shooter for the Wii U that utilizes paint in a way you probably wouldn't imagine. Say hello to Splatoon.

In the game, you’ll be able to use various characters that battle their way through enclosed arenas, while also utilizing their own paint splotches across the battlefield. In some situations, characters will be able to use the paint to their advantage, diving into the splotches in an effort to get around faster.

Splatoon promises plenty of action, and it definitely looks like the possibilities of multiplayer are definitely in the air. The game is due for release in 2015.
