Confirming earlier rumors, Nintendo announced Mario Maker at its E3 digital event. The trailer showed off stages made in both the old NES style and the more recent New Super Mario Bros style, and a stylus to let you edit the stages at will. It's slated for 2015 on Wii U.

Hmm, it looks like fun, especially when all the artists out there make insanely cool stuff and share it. I've been tempted to get a Wii U just because my daughter LOVES to play Mario Party. I think I'll wait for one more price drop before pulling the trigger.

i hope there are a lot more build options than just what they showed in the video, 'cause it looks really "toy" like right now. hopefully you can unlock more robust editing features.

literally a level editor to make Mario platformer levels with the classic 8-bit graphics or new ones.

I'm expecting self-playing Mario levels like they've hacked into ROMs.

This is such a good idea that you wonder why they didn't come up with it before.

I was wishing they would also have Super Mario World style levels and graphics that you could make in it. Well, it's still a concept so it can still maybe come there or maybe they'll go the modern way and do the different sets as DLC.
