Hold on here. Crime in the US isn't that bad, it just is in the inner cities, but thats true pretty much the world over.

Where I live, there is a murder about once every year or so and that is if you include all of the dozen or so little butt pimple cities around here. And guess what, of the 3 I can remember, only one was done with a gun.

If Americans have a problem with violent crime I don't think you can put all the blame on our guns. I might also have something to do with our dog-eat-dog school system. heh

These cheats will be made, regardless of who does it. Would you rather only a select group of people know about them and use them or have the cheats be public information? When the cheats are out in the public, they can be fixed. Even if they can't be fixed, at least there is a level playing field for everyone (of course, this doesn't apply to auto-aim bots and whatnot, but it does for cheats such as the quake2 nose pak.) Another point I'd like to make is that many, many people had the nose/rocket prediction pak for quake2 before it became public information. I am not talking about a week or two before-- this was months. In fact, I know of at least two different nose paks that were developed independantly of eachother. When the whole nose pak deal exploded, I was happy that everyone would at least know about it, rather than only a select few (I only knew of the nosepak/rocket prediction a week or two before v23 posted the info on ogl's msg board).

The entire situation is similar to napster, imo. Much as napster can be used legitimately, so can these autoaim bots and nose paks. As long as you don't use them on a public server, they're fine. I am sure that many people who support napster are the same people who are flaming syx66. Of course, this is simply because of their own selfishness and self interest.

Little do I care whether the l337 d00dz of this world get treated fairly in interviews or not. But this is...obviously pathetic leading. Anyway, I don't remember ever saying that you should completely ban everyone from ever posessing ANY kind of gun. I think hunting rifles are ok, and other guns that are designed for recreational uses. For handguns, I don't even think that they should be banned completely, but made much harder to get. And all this is worthless if everyone of you thinks that everyone should own a gun. In that case, go ahead, arm yourselves. And watch your country become a firing range (more so).

I mean, all of you are complaining about the rampant crime in the US and how people need guns to protect themselves. And yet, people in the US already have a shitload of guns. There's like 10 guns / US citizen if I remember correctly. How much more do you think it takes to make it a safe place??

Firstly, I don't own a gun, statistically I think it's a bad idea, especially since I have children.

But I'll tell you what. Guns may or may not be a cause of problems, I really don't know, but what I do know is I'm not willing to restrict access to guns because it starts (or more to the point, continues) a nasty trend. American's right to bear arms is one of our defining freedoms that sets us apart from the rest of the -LESS FREE- world (the other right being freedom of speech and expression). Ok, take away the guns then we are 'safer' right? Well whats next? No more video games? Fuck that. I'm getting sick and fucking tired of all the people who are trying to further restrict our freedoms in the US. This shit keeps up and it's going to be like 1984 or something.

Just because I make a poison that could kill you in a heartbeat when taken wrong doesn't mean I am to blame when you do. You make your own decisions.

Well in your example the only person who is hurt is the idiot who drinks the poison. But by using his bot, sure you're making the decision to be a cheater, but you're also exploiting others by leading them to believe you have exceptional aim.

Guns are not the problem. They are inanimate objects. Gun control advocates talk as if guns could act on their own, as if human beings cannot control them, so the uncontrollable guns must be banished.

Let us put the responsibility where it belongs, on the owner and user of the gun. If he or she acts responsibly, without attacking others or causing injury negligently, no crime or harm has been done. Leave them in peace. But, if a person commits a crime with a gun, then impose the severest penalties for the injuries done to the victim. Similarly, hold the negligent gun user fully liable for all harm his negligence does to others.

Rather than banning guns, the politicians and the police should encourage gun ownership, as well as education and training programs. A responsible, well-armed and trained citizenry is the best protection against domestic crime and the threat of foreign invasion. America's founders knew that. It is still true today.
