Super Smash Bros. uses Mii fighters, figurines

To kick off its pre-E3 press conference, Nintendo started with a bang by having execs Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aime duke it out, only to pick up controllers for Super Smash Bros. and use their virtual selves to do the dirty fighting.

No, they aren’t officially in the game, but they created characters that were put together using the new Mii Fighter system for the game, which will incorporate players to put themselves into the action.

Using one of three fighting systems (Brawler, Swordfighter and Gunner, with various moves each), players can incorporate moves similar to other characters in the game, and still put up plenty of a fight against others. Creative types can even recreate popular celebs and historical figures. In the video, we managed to see Abraham Lincoln and Elijah Wood set up…but the options are left up to the players, obviously.

In addition, Nintendo briefly showed how the figurine system would work with the game, as it will apparently give some fighters a boost by utilizing them and scanning them into the game.

More details on Smash Bros. to come in the days ahead as the Invitational tournament kicks off this week at E3!
