PlayStation TV coming this fall for $99
PlayStation TV (formerly known as Vita TV) will arrive this fall and it'll be available for $99.
SCE President and CEO Shawn Layden took the stage during Sony's E3 press conference to reveal more details about the PlayStation TV (formerly known as Vita TV). The device will offer well over 1,000 digital games available at launch from Sony's vast library. And it'll be available this fall for $99.
The PlayStation Vita device can connect to PlayStation 4 and use Remote Play to play different games on your network, play PS Now games (including PS3 games), play select Vita titles, and also play PlayStation and PSP Classics.
Those looking for more of a bundle deal will also be able to pick up the device, a DualShock 3 controller, an 8 GB memory card, and a voucher for a digital copy of The Lego Movie: The Videogame for $139.

It can connect to a PS4. Does that mean it needs a PS4 to run?
Or can it plug into a tv by itself, just like a normal console??-
Yeah, are they trying to combine an Apple TV/Roku/Chromecast with a Vita, or is this more of a set-top Vita? I wish they'd been more specific.
If it doesn't require I have a bunch of existing Sony equipment to stream it could be pretty cool, especially at the $99 price point.-

This could be the ultimate Persona 4 Golden machine (...but I still like how the Vita makes for easy state saving, as well as its portability).

I've been looking forward to this for a while now but the thing that is going to irk me a bit is probably the storage mediums will end up costing more than the console itself.

Ya Apple should be slapping themselves for coming late to the party. First Amazon puts out a Fire TV, now PS puts this out where it will be able to play PS1, 2 and 3 games..plus stream from your PS4. If this works with my existing NAS and has Netflix like I expect it would, ugh. I wanted to wait for the next Apple TV for a game console but if I can play all the indies on this plus get some nice Shadows of the Colossus fix in.

I cant seem to find any games on either the Android or Apple markets currently aside from PC ports that would motivate me to or desire purchasing an Apple or Android gaming product. The Playstation TV on the other hand is more desirable for me as I actually like the variety of games available for the Vita and the ability to stream previous generation PS games is even more of a reason to want it.
All the other features that Playstation TV provides is just more ammo to warrant a purchase. I don't care if this system does not have every streaming service available, what is already offered on PS3/PS4 is just fine for me. -

Have they announced what streaming apps will be available on the Playstation TV? I'm excited about this for my third room/tv, but I have to say that I'm very impressed with the Roku for streaming options, and if all it has is netflix I may opt for another roku since TV is used more than gaming in that room.
