Harmonix's premier dancing franchise is about to get its groove on once again. The studio revealed that Dance Central would take the dance floor on Xbox One this coming September under the title Dance Central Spotlight. Unlike previous installments in the Kinect-centric franchise, however, this one will be featured as a downloadable title.

Dance Central Spotlight will include ten all-new songs packed in at launch, with more tracks expected to be available as DLC. Harmonix is looking to have a substantial DLC library lined up and cited an improved music authoring system that would allow them to track and release songs in as quickly as one week. While classic dance songs are on the docket, the goal for the dev team is to release current hits as they're topping the charts.

Five songs have been revealed so far and they include:

  • "Wake Me Up" – Avicii

  • "Talk Dirty" – Jason Derulo ft. 2 Chainz

  • "Show Me" – Kid Ink ft. Chris Brown

  • "Counting Stars" – OneRepublic

  • "Happy" – Pharrell Williams

All of the songs in the game will feature eight different routines (with four available at the outset), compared to previous games that only featured three routines. Friends will be able to join in the fun, just as in previous versions, as Spotlight will feature the ability to drop in and out in mid-song.

Spotlight will also feature a new Fitness Mode that will allow users to create nonstop setlists for up to 90 minutes. This game mode will include several fitness-related options, such as a setting to count calories. Two pre-set, dedicated fitness routines will also be available at the outset.

Harmonix is also hoping to dip into previous Dance Central hits to add to their song library, which leads to the question of legacy support. The idea is to allow owners of previous songs in the Dance Central series to download those tracks for free. More details on how this process will work is expected at a later date.
