New World Interactive has made customization for their squad-based FPS, Insurgency, a whole lot easier. A recent update has opened up full Steam Workshop integration, allowing players to add in some of the best custom creations. The developer has also tossed in one of their favorite maps from the past, taking players back to Sinjar.

"Since Insurgency was originally a mod itself, allowing the community to create custom content for the game is synonymous with our team's culture," game director Jeremy Blum in the Steam announcement. "We are excited to see what our community is able to create, and to be able to utilize such a powerful tool as Workshop to ensure that quality content will be easily recognized and accessed by players."

Steam Workshop features for Insurgency include support for custom weapon skins, maps, audio packs, and game theaters. The new update will also toss in a brand new map called Sinjar, which is a remake of the classic Modern Infantry Combat map. You can check out Sinjar in the video below.

The update is available now, with the full change list available here. Insurgency is also on sale for $9.99 on Steam through June 16.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
