Twitter, HBO and other apps coming to Xbox One

While Microsoft is set to announce a bunch of new game projects for the Xbox One next week, it appears it'll get its fair share of applications later this year. The company confirmed that Twitter, HBO GO and over 40 additional apps will make their way to the console by the end of the holiday season.

Twitter will take a new approach with the system, as it will be "directly integrated" with the console's interface, as shown in the photo above. This will make it easier to live comment on TV programs, game broadcasts and more, where users can keep an eye on how social things get.

Major League Gaming's app will also play a huge part, as it will bring live broadcasts and MLG news directly to users who log in.

"Today as we announce new commitments from dozens of our partners, including deep integration with experiences like Twitter and Vine, we hit an important milestone in our journey to deliver unique experiences on Xbox," said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of devices and studios. "We're thrilled to break new ground in social TV experiences like we're doing with Twitter on Xbox One."
