Sony preparing to discontinue PlayStation Portable

It's hard to believe that Sony's PlayStation Portable has been out nearly ten years – but, alas, in the face of the PlayStation Vita, its time has come. A report from Time Magazine indicates that Sony is discontinuing the handheld, with shipments ending this month in Japan and later this year in Europe.

It looks a lot better. One thing that might be worth trying is to have Andrew and Sam wear colors that generally contrast with the darker background either warmer or lighter. The only other thing that might need some tweaking is the background. The narrow moving stripes are a little distracting at times.

Maybe make the stripes fewer, wider, and slow the pace at which they move across the screen.

I can't believe the PSP has been around for 10 fucking years. Shit like that makes me feel old. Where has the time gone?

It's hard to justify buying a vita while you own an iPad. I still have my PSP, it has a half inch of dust on it.

I never owned one, but I remember the hoopla around its release (so big that even South Park got in on the fun) like it was yesterday.

while there are shitty mobile style games on the vita, the point of the vita, in my mind anyway, is having the console experience while you're on the go. that's something the ipad doesn't come close to doing.

Howso? They're totally different platforms, and the Vita has Persona 4 Golden and other great traditional games, something the iPad definitely lacks (especially if you can't stand software-based d-pads).

I love my Vita. I play it way more than I do my 3DS, and I pretty much play Hearthstone and nothing else on my iPad.

On my iPad. I play: FTL, Hearthstone, Wayward Sword, Magic 2014, Ascension (yes still).

My 3DS, which gathers dust, I really have only played one game. Bravely Default.

I get the whole "I like buttons" thing. But for me, I like the 10 inch screen, and something I can do a lot more than just play games. I think the iPad Air is the best gaming device, ever honestly. (I'm sure this is a heretical point of view here, but yeah).
