Microsoft has made it clear that the company must do more with PC gaming, which presumably includes bringing in existing franchises. Coincidentally, in the wake of this latest edict from Microsoft, Fable Anniversary now appears to be on the fast-track to PC.

A new teaser from developer Lionhead Studios shows off fans typing away on their PCs, all requesting a PC version of Fable Anniversary. The familiar Steam UI then pops up to indicate that the remastered version of the original game will indeed exist on the platform. No date has been given for its release, though.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Fable 2 would be great as well. Doubt it will ever happen though.

Let's see if they tie this game to XBox Games for Windows. Fable Anniversary is the litmus test for Phil Spencer's "We Must Do More With PC Gaming" initiative.

You're concerned it'll only be available from the Windows 8 store?

Making it a Windows 8 Store exclusive would be a Don Mattrick move, and they couldn't have fired that guy and his idiot ideas any harder if they'd done it out of a cannon into the sun.

Can't be concerned about that, the whole teaser video that started this story (the one embedded on the damn page itself) pretty much confirms a Steam release.

Good. I applaud this move. It does kind of make my unplayed Steam copy of Fable a waste of money, but hey.

Didn't expect that one at all. Is Microsoft doing everything backwards?

The start of a new console gen you put all your eggs in the basket of the new console and pretend the PC doesn't exist. As the console ages you slowly let things come to the PC - by the end of the generation the PC is clearly dominating again.
Then you release a new console and once again pretend the PC is the red headed stepchild of the family.

That's how it went the last couple of times, they seem to be doing this backwards.
Doesn't bother me, maybe I can play Fable A via Steam streaming on my TV.

I played the original on Xbox and then The Lost Chapters on PC. Can't wait to buy it again for the PC.
