Forza Horizon is getting a sequel. Aptly named Forza Horizon 2, it's due this fall for Xbox One and Xbox 360. Playground Games, the studio behind the first Horizon, is taking the lead, but it will also be collaborating with Turn 10 Studios from Forza 5.

We had previously seen leaked concept art and rumors pointing to it taking place in the deep south. As it turns out, according to IGN, that was only half-right. Instead, this one will be set in southern Europe, which the team says lets them give the environments "incredible diversity" and "amazing vistas." It will al revolve around a music festival.

As a Forza first, Horizon 2 will introduce a weather system. Hundreds of cars are on-tap, naturally, with the 2015 Lamborghini Huracán serving as its headliner. It will also use the "Drivatar" system from Forza 5.

hmm surprised they are going dual platform on this... you'd think they would make it exclusive to the XB1 to sell more systems. I'm sure the XB1 version will look better but what else would it bring to the table over the XB360 version?

I would imagine the simulation would be better on the XB1 just from raw processing power over the 360. The 360 is really getting old and feels it.

I hope it doesn't suffer from being dual designed for the lowest spec. If they are doing that themselves it very well could be identical in many ways but just minor visual upgrades and a 30 / 60fps difference

          Ah, good.

UPDATE: To clarify, Playground Games is developing solely for the Xbox One version, using Forza Motorsport 5's graphics engine as a baseline. The Xbox 360 version is being handled separately by Sumo Digital, using Forza Horizon 1's graphics engine as a baseline.
