IO Interactive showed off the first concept art for the next Hitman game, as a way to soften the blow that it won't be coming to E3 this year.

IO Interactive has shown off the first concept art for the next Hitman game, and shared some details on what the art means for their goals with this next installment. The art shows an expansive outdoor environment, which is exactly what IO wants to convey.

In an update on the official site, the studio said that you'll be able to explore the entire interior of the building, both inside and out. For the sake of comparison, it notes that the inside of the building itself is larger than any of the environments in Hitman: Absolution. This particular scene takes place in central Europe.

The art was shared to soften the blow of the announcement that it won't be shown at E3. "We know the worst thing is to hope for something that doesn’t turn up; so we wanted to let you know that our next Hitman is going to be under wraps for a bit longer," the company stated. It also said it's focusing on making the game itself right now, and doesn't want to divert resources to show it off before it's ready.

Previously IO posted a letter stating that this game will feature Agent 47 in the "prime of his career," with large "living, breathing and believable" sandbox levels. The Contracts Mode from Absolution will also be making a return.

I would so much like IO Interactive to not do Hitman games for awhile. I want them to explore new IP and make a great game like Freedom Fighters for a change.
