Gearbox and 2K Australia looking to tell the origins of Handsome Jack in the upcoming Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Though it takes place before the events of the main Borderlands games, it's set to feature much of the classic gameplay the series has become known for, as evidenced by a 15-minute walkthrough released today.

Gearbox associate producer James Lopez and 2K Australia producer Joel Eschler offer a narrated walkthrough of the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel demo from PAX East. They introduce some of the game's playable characters (like Athena, an NPC from the first Borderlands), new loot chests, and new weapons. They also explain the game's new oxygen system, which is being introduced to establish the game's new setting on the surface of the moon.

Give the game a look in the video below. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is coming this fall to PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I'm kind of bothered that this is a stand-alone title.

As BL2 extend-DLC it would be awesome. New weapons, new environments, new playable characters are appealing. However it's still the same game on the same engine with the same playstyle. I expect more from a standalone title.

Maybe if it's a budget release I will warm to it but as a full priced game I can't see this even getting on my radar.
