Considering the best seller that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions has become (millions of copies and rising), it was only a matter of time before Mojang brought the blocky building/action game Minecraft to the newer systems. This morning, it officially announced that Minecraft will hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Vita in August.

Mojang has confirmed a few details about the new versions on its website. Most notably, you can get the Xbox One or PS4 version for a cheaper price if you purchased it previously for Xbox 360 or PS3. The game will only be $4.99 for those that did, while everyone else will have to pay the more standard price of $19.99. Meanwhile, the PS Vita version will be free to those who purchased the PS3 edition.

These versions will include the most recent updates from the previous versions of the game, as well as most, but not all, of the downloadable content introduced. Mojang hasn't broken down which packs will and won't be available for it, but more information is expected later over the summer.

As far as cross-saves are concerned, they work like this. Previous saves from Xbox 360 and PS3 will work for their respective platforms, Xbox One and PS4/Vita. However, some cross-saves won't be backwards compatible, like Xbox One going to Xbox 360 and PS4 to PS3/Vita. It's pretty much being able to step forward, but not stepping back. Cross-platform play will not be available, but the games will feature online play--and that includes the Vita version.
