Activision In Court
by Steve Gibson, Aug 12, 2000 12:26pm PDTMost of you guys probably remember Soldier Of Fortune getting screwed up in Canada with an x-rating (Keeping anyone under 18 from being able to get the game) Well hairytesticles sent in this link with word that Activision is filing an appeal in court instead of just rolling over and taking it.
"The action of the Film Classification board undermines consumers' rights of freedom and choice of expression and sets a precedent for government censorship," the California-based Activision said in a statement released yesterday.

I cant reach WON :(
ASS
And sure, Activision is fighting a rating, which seems stupid an unnecessary, but the rating in question (X, was it?) is extremely prohibitive and would certainly damage sales/profits. The game would only be sold in stores like 'Zeke's House of Illegality'.

No it doesn't. That's why the games are pre-rated by ANOTHER company that KNOWS what they are talking about.

Why should they censor a video game if there is a Mature rating on it?
Or howabout Activision just not sell to Canada. I'm sure the people of Canada might want to say something about that.
