This morning, Microsoft and 343 Industries announced Halo 5: Guardians, the next big chapter in the Master Chief saga. The announcement was accompanied by a statement that more Halo-related news would be available at E3. However, rumors are beginning to swirl that there's more Master Chief coming our way through a new Halo compilation for Xbox One.

According to Engadget, a special compilation called Halo: The Master Chief Collection will offer Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4, each game remastered for Xbox One. Engadget speculates that the collection will arrive this year, which would help fill the gap between now and Halo 5: Guardians' arrival in late 2015.

Shacknews reached out to Microsoft for confirmation, but the publisher has stated that they are not commenting on rumor or speculation.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
