The Division delayed to 2015

The Division has been delayed into 2015, though Ubisoft still plans to make it part of their E3 presentation.

The Division won't be coming this year after all. Ubisoft announced today that it has been pushed to 2015 for unspecified reasons, though the company still plans to share more details about it at E3 next month.

Word came from an Ubisoft earnings call (via GameSpot). This aligns with a rumor from earlier in the year, when an anonymous Ubisoft developer said the 2014 window was unrealistic for a game this size. Most recently, Red Storm was brought in to lend a hand on the game.

Glad to hear it. Their year is pretty packed as it is, and the further from Destiny the better.

damn this was the one game I've been waiting for all year long. Sad panda here. I'm glad though they are taking their time with it to make it even more awesome instead of rushing a unfinished POS like Battlefields.

Sounds about right... they need that time to reduce the visual details and make it look like crap like their other games. Okay, I'm exaggerating, their games do look great, but somehow they always degrade significantly between the time the game is announced and the time the game comes out.

Makes sense. We've already got The Crew and new Assassin's Creed(s) coming this fall, so Ubisoft has a full slate.

Any bets that when it hits us in 2014 it doesn't have nearly the same visual fidelity?

More than likely, but at least it's being made for PS4/XBO/PC not the PS360.

I'm okay with this. I've come to realize that waiting longer periods (99% of cases anyways...DNF...) leads to a superior product. I'm okay with waiting, also happy it's coming to PC
