If two weeks still seems like too long to wait for Mario Kart 8, you're in luck. You can play a sampling of it this weekend. GameStop stores are hosting a "Test Drive" weekend, which lets visitors try out the upcoming Wii U game.

According to the announcement, the demo days will be this weekend only, May 17-18, from 12 PM to 4 PM. That's a pretty narrow window, but at least you have options: more than 2,700 GameStop stores will be housing it. Plus, if you pre-order (or have pre-ordered) you can get a double-sided poster. As part of the promotion, GameStop is also holding a Mario Kart Memories contest, letting you share your fond recollections for a chance to win a Wii U bundle and GameStop gift cards.

You can check out the promotional site for a listing of stores in your area that will offer the demo. Mario Kart 8 is due on May 30.

Nintendo really needs Mario Kart 8 and the next Smash Bros to succeed. I do think they will... Mario Kart will have a high attach rate (most existing WiiU users will buy it), but I don't think it'll sell that many new systems. I think Smash Bros will be the huge system seller, and it'll probably even boost sales of Mario Kart and other pre-existing titles when it comes out. That game has such a die hard fan base from Wii and I think it has a chance of making the WiiU a real contender in the console race.

I have identical boys that are 2, and I can't wait for the day when they can hold a controller with reasonable dexterity... Family MarioKart night!

Yup he is able to play Mario with me co-op, and can relatively keep him self alive. I end up farming lots of lives so he can die a lot and keep playing lol.

He really loves the different hats and he's obsessed with getting the end flag lol.

Just wait till they kick your ass at something... probably why Smash Bros was such a popular game... you can often button mash your way to victory so even little kids have a good chance.

I super want Nintendo to be successful in like everything they do.

I've also been hoping for each new first party game to breath some life into the Wii U, but none of them seem to. It may just not be an option.

Not even remotely worth going into a Gamestop for this.
