Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy III is coming to PC. The announcement was ininitally leaked three weeks ago, but this formal reveal from the publisher also notes that the Steam version will receive some exclusive features.

The PC version of Final Fantasy III will include new 3D visuals and story sequences, built and enhanced for the platform. In addition to optimized graphics and re-designed Job Mastery Cards, the Steam version of the game will add Achievements and Steam Trading Cards.

For those unfamiliar with the 1990 classic, Final Fantasy III follows the story of Luneth, a young villager from Ur. Luneth must journey to find the crystals of light, which sunk into the earth and drove land into chaos. Along the way, he must find three others like him, whom prophecies have foretold will restore balance to the world.

The Steam listing for Final Fantasy III can be found here. Square Enix has not issued a release date, but notes the game is coming soon.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

They need to do away with that sign in to some other bs stuff 1st... unless this title doesn't have that. Removing FF7&8's would be a start. Thx.

I just finished the Android version a couple of months ago and it's really good. One of the best FF games imo.

Nice, I've never played any version of this game so this seems like a good excuse to give it a spin.

Ikaruga got a big update today, and now this? That's a lot of Japanese PC love in one day.

What does new story sequences mean? Few new side quests I guess. I'm guessing this just means a higher render, not higher poly counts.
