Sunset Overdrive's trailer reveals a colorful, havoc-filled world

Insomniac Games' Sunset Overdrive has been building steam as a premiere Xbox One exclusive ever since its announcement last year. Today, the developer decided that the wait has been long enough, and let loose with a new four-plus minute trailer detailing the world, weapons, factions and the enemies you'll deal with throughout the game.

In Sunset Overdrive, you're a parkour-running inhabitant pitted against a mutant outbreak, caused by an energy drink called Overcharge Delirium XT. At least, that's what trailer indicates that the two events may be connected, and considering the orange-y appearance of the enemies, that wouldn't be a surprise.

From there, the trailer discusses getting around, and this is where your character's flexibility comes in. Whether it's running along walls, climbing up buildings or sliding along power lines (paging Jet Grind Radio), he'll have no problem getting from point A to point B.

Factions and Enemies are also revealed, and your character will deal with them quite a bit. They include brushing elbows with samurai wannabes and LARPers who take matters into their own hands. Alien baddies include large behemoths that throw around their cohorts and the Blower, who utilizes a leaf-blower-ish arm to blast goop your way.

For good measure, the respawns look hilarious as well, ranging from dropping out of a UFO to being thrown out of a van.

Various weapons are available for the player to use in Sunset Overdrive, ranging from a bowling ball cannon to a Roman Candle-shooting light gun. There's also the TN-Teddy, which shoots an adorable stuffed teddy bear laden with dynamite. It definitely has that "explosive but cute" effect.

"Amps" can also be added, giving your character special abilities like speed bursts. The Twist of Fate activates a nuclear explosion. Anyone else sense an explosive theme going on here? You can also summon tornadoes with a swing of your bat once the Twister amp is set up.

More details on Sunset Overdrive should be revealed next month at E3, with a release likely to happen later this year. Chances are that bowling ball cannon is going to hurt…
