You may be trying out Bungie's next shooter as soon as Independence Day. Activision revealed during yesterday's financial results that the beta for Destiny is planned for July, slightly narrowing the previously stated summer target.
The beta launch was in an Activision slide given in its financial presentation. That finally confirms that it will miss the early 2014 window that came alongside the announcement of the beta. The slide also claimed that it may break pre-order records for a new IP.
We recently learned that Activision is investing in Destiny in a big way, committing $500 million to give the new franchise a strong start. Analysts doubt the first game will break even, but the ten-year deal with Bungie means the publisher has plenty of time to make its money back.
