Capcom's 'Mega May' for 3DS scheduled

Capcom previously put "Mega May" in the hands of fans, letting a popular vote determine the order it would release a bunch of Mega Man games on the 3DS Virtual Console. We're in the midst of May and the results are in, so Nintendo has released the whole line-up.

The games with the most votes got first-run, so we can only conclude that the release of Mega Man Xtreme last week was the result of people who don't mind that it's such a stupid name. Aside from that anomaly, the order is more-or-less the same as the series order. This week will bring both Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3, followed by Mega Man 4 on May 15, Mega Man 5 on May 22, and Mega Man Xtreme 2 on May 29.

Almost all of these are remixes of existing Mega Man games from the NES and Super NES, with slightly different plots to tie them together. Mega Man 2, for example, takes bosses from the NES MM2 and MM3. The Xtreme games attempt to sandwich SNES mechanics on the Gameboy, with limited success. Take it from an old hand: the best of the bunch is Mega Man 5, which introduced an entirely new set of bosses and stages.
