Tera is celebrating two years this month, and En Masse Entertainment has announced its birthday plans. Events will be going on throughout the month, including increased rewards for pinging levels, double XP, and the introduction of a new class.

The new Reaper class will launch on May 13. It's a close and mid-range fighter, and you'll need both an existing level 40 character and an open slot to create one. If you're not at level 40, the double XP event will make it a little easier to get there. Starting tomorrow at 11 AM PT, you can get double XP for all of your kills. Quest XP will remain the same. That will remain into effect until the Reaper launches on May 13.

If you need more incentive to level up, this month will also grant extra rewards for hitting levels at multiples of 10. When you reach level 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 you'll get an extra reward box in your parcel post, with better rewards for those who hit higher levels. You can find the full list of rewards at the events page.

Having to grind up another class to 40 first is kinda lame. I'll never understand the logic in something like that with MMOs, since each class plays differently there's no real value to that other than annoying potential new players into just skipping it entirely.

Does anyone play this game any more? I tried it and liked it but no one I knew played it. Kinda interested to see how it runs on me newer PC too...hmmm....

It runs well on my PC, which is a few years old now (and running an ATI from 2010). I don't play it much because like most F2P games, I just fire it up when I've got nothing better to play.

It's still the best MMO combat ever, IMO, and I wish other MMOs would copy/adapt it into a better overall game.

Save your verdict until level 30 or so (it doesn't take long to get there). The combat gets more and more fun as you unlock more spells and moves. For example, my shield blocker guy got a Mortal Kombat "Get over here" chain at some point, that seriously changed up how I played.

Yep. I spent a month on it at launch, so I only saw the PVE content, but the combat is excellent (much more active than most, somewhere between third person brawler and Diablo (there's no autotargetting)) and it's very pretty, and I remember the quests were well written, too (though not special). All in all, I thought it was a great theme-park MMO. If you have a buddy to play with, it'd be a great time, and it's worth checking out in any case.
