Microsoft has lifted the fee to use group video calling on its Skype service. The change means you can now host a chat across PC, Mac, and Xbox One without paying the previous $4.99 per month charge.

GameSpot reports that the group calls allow up to 10 people at once, and Microsoft plans to support more platforms in the future, including iPad. The Premium Skype service page has been altered to reflect the change as well.

Buying an Xbone used to come with 6 mo of Skype Premium. I don't know what it means any more.

So if I had a credit card tied to my Skype account, would it attempt auto-renewing after 6 months? That'd be some lame-ass shit.

You used to have to pay an extra fee for group calling specifically, but that has been lifted. Otherwise Skype on Xbox One has been available at no additional charge as long as you have an XBL Gold account.
