Like the campaign, Ubisoft's game shines when it's doing its own thing, rather than trying to go toe-to-toe against Rockstar's heavy-hitting franchise. How Dota 2 manipulates your behavior Valve has found some creative ways to impact player behavior in Dota 2. Having hired psychologist Dr. Mike Ambinder, the studio has been changing seemingly minor aspects that have ended up having a big impact on players. Ambinder gave one particularly sneaky example recently, shedding some light on how these player experiments work. How Minecraft helped revive Age of Wonders 3 Age of Wonders 3 came back to life after a long absence, and we might just have Minecraft to thank for it. Lead designer Lennert Sas says that Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson not only helped finance the game, but provided valuable feedback as well.

GameStop to increase focus on phones & tablets instead of video games It may have "game" in its name, but retailer GameStop has announced plans to start increasing its focus on "gaming-adjacent" fields while lessening its reliance on video games. CEO Paul Raines dubbed the initiative "GameStop 3.0," saying that it plans on closing about 2 percent of its retail locations, while opening Spring Mobile and Simply Mac stores instead.
