Over two generations, Microsoft has yet to find success in the Japanese market. Perhaps that's why Xbox One is releasing so late in the territory. Designated a "tier 3" country, the console will be shipping nearly a year late, on September 4th. To coincide with the announcement, Xbox has revealed which Japanese companies have signed on to be developers for the console.

  • CyberConnect2

  • Cyberstep

  • Silicon Studio

Many of these names aren't too surprising to see, as they represent the biggest names in the Japanese gaming industry. However, just because a developer signs up doesn't mean they'll necessarily release content. As Siliconera reader Locklear93 points out, Nippon Ichi signed up to make content for Xbox 360--and that never happened.

As a Japanese gamer it would worry me that they announced developers and not any games

I imagine we'll see the games at this year's TGS if not E3. Also, I always thought Codemasters was a European company.

Yes, but they do have a Japanese division as well.

This is pretty common- I wouldn't worry about it. You don't really know who's going to end up publishing games on the platform, so you list those that claim to be working on something.
