Double Fine's elvish cheatfest, Hack 'n' Slash, has been slowly progressing from what was originally a two-week prototype, hoping to make its targeted 2014 release. Those looking to jump into this strange world of exploits and hacks a little early will be happy to hear that Double Fine is looking to hit Steam Early Access in just a couple of weeks.

Hack 'n' Slash unfolds just like most classic adventure games, with a hero looking to save the world's princess. However, players will also use programming code and in-game hacks to access exploits and help them progress through the world.

If you're still not sure about what Hack 'n' Slash is, this delightful 80s throwback trailer (featuring game creator Brandon Dillon) will explain more. And it'll do with phat 80s rap, yo.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
