The Super Smash Bros-exclusive Nintendo Direct has added some new details on the online modes for both the Wii U and 3DS of Nintendo's fighter.

Lobbies will be divided by those out 'For Fun' and 'For Glory.' For Fun will pit four players against one another in traditional Smash mode with all bells and whistles, though games between friends will allow them to set the rules, stages, and items however they please.. For Glory, meanwhile, is reserved for one-on-one battling in Final Destination only.

In an effort to keep the atmosphere friendly, there will also be rules in place to crack down on AFK players, cheaters, and griefers with temporary bans. The rules will also punish players that baselessly report other players, too.

Traditional leaderboards are also being eschewed in favor of 'Global Smash Power,' to indicate how player scores stack up against others around the world. However, skill will still be tracked for matchmaking purposes.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
