After a lengthy delay, Focus Home Interactive and Spiders Studio have announced a release date for Bound by Flame. The action-RPG will hit Sony consoles (along with PC and Xbox 360) on May 9 and the developers have released a new gameplay trailer to show off some more of the game's combat.

"In Bound by Flame, the combat system lets you instantly switch between three stances (Fighter, Ranger, and Pyromancer), allowing you to adapt to the enemy you're facing on the fly," project manager Walid Miled said on PlayStation.Blog. "We also showcase some of the creatures you'll be fighting. There's a lot of them out there, and each has its own characteristics and tendencies in combat."

The trailer below illustrates some of the game's weapons in action, showing a two-handed hammer and dual-wielded daggers among others. Miled promises other weapon options, both of the close and long-range variety. Of course, since the game centers around a mercenary possessed by a flame demon, you can also simply choose to fry your enemies.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
