Bethesda has a surprise for players that just couldn't stand to wait another minute for The Elder Scrolls Online. The game is available right now on PC, hours before its scheduled release.

Bethesda posted the announcement on Twitter. The publisher had announced earlier in the day that it would bring down servers in anticipation of the game's launch. Over 5 million players participated in the ESO beta and Bethesda detailed some of the more notable stats to come from that period.

Those interested can pick up either the Standard Edition or Digital Imperial Edition here.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I am tempted. But I know I shouldn't. I was tempted for GW2, TSW, Rift, Wow. I played them, and all MMO's for like 5 days and then get bored. Perhaps I should learn my lesson.

      so tempted.....

yeah. i played for about 2 hours and then the thought of playing it again the next day was not the least bit appealing. to each their own, i guess, but it's really not something i'm jumping at the chance to play again... especially for $60 + $15/month.

i know!! ESO made me say "i think i'll just go play more Skyrim". it'd be nice to have a few dudes to quest with, but i don't need it to be an MMO.

I've been enjoying it so far. I preordered so I have had it for a week... the game really opens up after the initial tutorial islands... and those are skipable now if you just want to start wondering around and bumping into quests. I thought the intro islands were very well done and at least the ones for the Daggerfall Covenant had great characters you got to know and an interesting moral choice at the end... all and all better storytelling than most of the single player TES games. (Which I love)

It's just a week in so who knows if it will hold up but so far I think it's the most solid fantasy MMO I have played. I think both the combat and advancement is a lot like TSW which is my favorite MMO... me and like 4 other people...
