Report: Lego The Hobbit may add third film as DLC

A report from the London Toy Fair suggests that WB Games is planning to release the third film of the Hobbit trilogy in its upcoming Lego The Hobbit game after all--as DLC close to the film's launch.

Lego The Hobbit launches next week, encapsulating the first two big-budget Hobbit film adaptations. But as many fans noticed when it was first announced, why not just hold off for a fall release and include the whole trilogy? The answer may be that the final film, There and Back Again, will be added as DLC.

Lego fan site Brick Fanatics reports from the London Toy Fair that the game will add the third film as downloadable content around its release. That would certainly make some more sense of the publisher putting it out so early, and would be a first step into large-scale DLC for the series.

When reached for comment, a WB Games rep told Game Informer, "Definitely stay tuned for more exciting news in the near future." That doesn't sound like a denial, but we'll have to wait for official confirmation to be sure.
