Nintendo has released a new trailer for Mario Kart 8, showing off some of the game's new courses and items before culminating with the reveal of the game's all-new Rainbow Road. And in grand Mario Kart tradition, the multi-colored track appears to be as expansive and punishing as ever.

The trailer shows off bits and pieces of Mario Kart 8's different tracks, while highlighting the game's roster, which looks to be more expansive than any previous game in the series. The scene then shift to Rainbow Road to show off the track's multitude of jumps, ramps, and anti-gravity stretches.

Mario Kart 8 starts its engines on May 30.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Just finished drooling over the trailer. The game looks gorgeous and as fun as ever. Between Dark Souls 2 and Mario Kart 8, I should be set on games until this fall.

That's N64's Rainbow Road from the retro cup, not a brand new Rainbow Road. Just FYI. Though it speaks volumes that you (and I initially too) thought this was a new track.

I think I saw doughnut plains from the SNES too, I'm officially stoked.

Looks like it also has the car one, the farm, the beach and peach stadium for N64.
