Update: Details regarding the current state of FTL's Android version have been added.

Subset Games has officially released FTL: Faster Than Light on iPad, as promised last week. The iOS version includes the new Advanced Edition content, which is set to come to PC tomorrow in a free automatic update.

The FTL: Advanced Edition update includes new systems, such as the Clone Bay, hacking system, mind control ability, a new robotic race, and a new Hard mode. More details on the update can be found here.

FTL: Faster Than Light was a favorite of both the Shacknews staff and Chatty community alike, making the Shacknews Best of 2012 list at #7 and the Shacknews Community Game of the Year list at #2.

FTL: Faster Than Light is available now on the App Store for $9.99. The game requires iPad 2 or higher models to run.

The developers offered a look at the new FTL: Advanced Edition content on Matt 'LethalFrag' McKnight's Twitch channel. During the stream, Subset Games co-founder Justin Ma went into details on the current state of FTL's Android version, noting that the studio plans to tackle this platform next.

"We're going to look into it," said Subset Games co-founder Jusin Ma. "We haven't looked into it yet, but it's going to be the next step. Originally, we liked to stay platform-agnostic. That's why we released on Windows, Mac, and Linux at the same time, but that was so ridiculously stressful that we decided to do it one-by-one."

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
