Hannibal has been knocking for a few weeks, but the conqueror has finally broken through into Total War: Rome 2 with today's 'Hannibal at the Gates' DLC expansion pack. That's not all The Creative Assembly has for its players, though, as the studio has also released a free update called 'Seasons & Wonders' to celebrate Hannibal's arrival.

The 'Hannibal at the Gates' DLC features new units for each of Rome 2's factions, including the Arevaci's Painted Warriors and Celtiberian Cavalry, the Lusitani's Guerrillas and Spearmen, and the Syracuse's Picked Hoplites.

But maybe you aren't looking to pony up $14.99 for Total War: Rome 2's latest DLC. If that's the case, there's also a free 'Seasons & Wonders' update hitting the game today, which will add a unit-roster expansion for Carthage, Twitch support, new great wonders for battlefields, touchscreen support, new seasons for the Grand Campaign mode, and system refinements and bug fixes.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
