Wolfenstein: The New Order is getting its own "Panzerhund" collector's edition, Bethesda announced today. It comes with a set of extra goodies for $100, and will be available May 20 alongside the standard edition.

Bethesda is making 5,000 of the sets, and they'll only be available through its own online store. For the price you'll get an individually stamped number plate to confirm its limited status, an 8-inch Panzerhund statue, a "classified" folder with maps, letters, and blueprints, a set of 14 postcards, three embroidered patches, and dog tags.

What this special edition doesn't have, however, is a copy of the game. "Keep your pre-order at your favorite retailer and we'll send you these goodies separately," Bethesda notes.

Even the most outrageous pre-orders out there that include real cars or mega trips still come with a copy of the game...

I just started playing the last Wolfenstein game on PS3 last night. Definitely feels like an old school shooter. Couple hours in and enjoying it so far.

Inflate price because of limited avaibility and sell the game appart = maximum profit.

Still hoping it will be good!

Call me crazy but I think this is a good idea.

It's platform neutral. If you like the game, you can elect to get this to celebrate your fondess afterwards. Not only that but the price for the set lower to reflect the lack of the game.

The only real criticism I have is that it is called an "edition" which might mislead one into buying it expecting the game. On the other hand, you can only get it from the Beth site. You almost have to go out of your way to get this set.

Namco Bandai is releasing an "ultra-limited exquisite edition" of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (which the publisher says is "worth €2000")... AND IT INCLUDES THE GAME.

Not really, what would make sense would be including a code that you could redeem for a DL code on your platform/region of choice
