Battlefield 4 Naval Strike DLC delayed on PC

DICE has temporarily pulled the plug on Battlefield 4's Naval Strike DLC on PC, citing an unspecified quality issue.

Battlefield 4's Naval Strike DLC was scheduled to release on March 25. But while console owners are set to receive the game's latest expansion on time, DICE has temporarily pulled the plug on the PC version just hours before it was set to arrive, citing quality issues.

DICE did not specify the issue, simply stating on the Battlefield blog, "We've detected an issue and it needs to be solved. Quality is our number one priority and we will not release Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on PC until we feel it meets the highest quality level possible."

To try and make up for this latest in a long line of problems, DICE is looking to release a larger update for PC owners to go alongside the DLC, which will issue a fix for the Tablet Commander. A new release date has not been given.

Battlefield 4's Naval Strike DLC is set to release to non-Premium members in two weeks.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Wow. Something must have really been broken for DICE to delay due to a quality issue.

Actually, there was nothing broken, so they are figuring out what to break now.

This is probably closer to the truth. "Can't have something working properly. Makes the rest of the game look bad!"

Your system may be able to handle it but I don't think BF4 can. Knock down the visuals a tick and see what happens. If it's the difference between seeing every blade of grass and getting to play which do you choose?

        what's your specs & settings?? I haven't had a crash in BF4 in about 3 months.

Also I did have some crashing issues back in Dec with BF4... but I had read slightly overvolting your memory fixes it. I ran my 1.65v memory at 1.66v and my crashes were completely gone. I haven't had an issue since increasing my memory voltage.

I think BF4 is a lot more memory intensive and can expose memory issues that other apps/games don't have any issue with.

I am running the game ok on my comp:
            amd phenom 9950 @2.8ghz
            4gig ddr2
            Geforce 450 GTX

I had issues in Dec - Jan, but now I can get owned a few hours a day without it crashing.

Your comp should blow the game away, but if you really want to play we can always trade comps :D

try setting your Ram back to 1333Mhz or 1600Mhz... you might not be overvolting for 1866Mhz but might still be an issue if the Memory Controller on your CPU sucks balls.

not necessarily... why not just try overvolting slightly to like +0.1v over stock. I know doing a very slight overvolt seemed to solve my crashing issues and I'm using DDR3-2400 @ 2400Mhz.

yah just try it... if it doesn't fix it, then just put it back to the standard voltage. a +0.1v overvolt is within the spec. They usually account for a variance up to +0.2v

yah mine was stable for all of Nov & Dec... then started crashing in Jan. Then I saw a thread on the Battlelog forums saying if you run higher than DDR3-1866 to overvolt your ram slightly. I did that and it was fixed!!

Just an anecdote but I just recently got BF4 for PC (last week) and it's been running surprisingly excellent for me. Way higher than expected FPS, zero crashes.

        My specs for reference:
        GTX 660 ti
        i5 4670k @ 4.2Ghz
        8gb ram
Windows 8 (<- I've heard this one nets some decently large performance gains with BF4)

It's not like they are going to not give it to you. All premium did was give you access to all the dlc at a cheaper price than individual.

As stupid as it is, premium does give you a two week head start over non premium players (though this is negated with the assignments being put out early for all) weeks ahead of the DLC release.

It is a horrible and flawed system.
