It's not a price drop. But, two retailers are now selling the Xbox One Titanfall console bundle for $50 less than retail price. According to Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg, you'll be able to get the bundle for $450 at Walmart and Best Buy.

Because it's not an official price drop, neither retailer is allowed to show the price on their website. "As a retailer, we set our own prices independently, but some manufacturers restrict how we may communicate those prices. In some cases the manufacturer does not allow us to show you our price until you take further action," Best Buy says. "Walmart has decided to offer this product to you at a price well below the manufacturer's minimum retail price. Because of this, the manufacturer requires that you take a couple additional steps before you can see this special low price," Walmart also points out.

I tried to cancel with amazon when it first came out but they were in processing forever and shipped it. Decided to keep it since I got it, and regret it to this day. Early adopter for xb1 : fail.

Don't regret my ps4 at all though.

While I'm more than a little disappointed that they haven't gotten their act together with the resolution and graphical fidelity stuff, (it should be able to handle similar levels as the ps4) I don't regret getting the one at all.

I'm glad I got a PS4 also, but I have always enjoyed the design philosophies that end up on the microsoft platforms too much to go without an Xbox One.

That is such a dumb console warrior attitude. Those consoles have sold great, and the game has sold great from everything I have seen.

I guess they could hold the console out of everyone's reach like Sony did. I got both consoles as soon as I could, only difference is that the PS4 launch was a fucking logistical joke... again. They didn't prepare for demand.

            March 21, 2014 6:06 PM

Microsoft would have supply issues too, if people actually wanted to buy their console. As it is, retailers are taking it upon themselves to cut pricing to move units.

They're sitting on unsold units from the Holliday season and had to take the titansfall SKU as well. Something has to give in the face of pitiful demand to clear inventory so here we are, price cut city.

Meanwhile Sony is moving every unit they can ship.

Do you define "pitiful demand" as "less demand than there is for the PS4"? Because sales in the US for both consoles have been very similar, just look at the sales numbers for February.

The difference is that MS is not selling in nearly as many countries right now, hence their lack of supply issues in the US.

Pitiful demand defined as "so much stock clogging up retailer inventory chains that they need to cut prices just to get units out the door already".

                  March 21, 2014 7:07 PM

Sounds like you're commenting on supply, not demand? MS probably expected to be selling a bit better than they have been, or perhaps they overshot supply on purpose to ensure there would always be units in stock when their big exclusives started to hit.

If retailers are cutting the price just to get rid of inventory, that is all you need to know.

That said I don't know if this is retailers or MS cutting the price.

Ah yes, retailers are cutting prices on their own because Microsoft just doing too good a job at giving them units, not at all because they're having trouble selling them!

Warriors? its fanboys, as in BOYS.. and facts is facts..use just NPD numbers is like saying the rest of the world doesn't exist.. Both systems are way to expensive for basically no games right now IMHO. Titanfall has pushed the BOne sales up in the US (one week so far) to almost match Sony (good sign for the BOne).. Sony is still selling more with no AAA game right now, fanboy or not, Sony is outselling the BOne. With Titanfall its almost a dead heat in US (now) but other countries its not even close. One thing i think is funny is how either manufacture uses the region it sells well in for stats.. 360 sold better in US so they used it for marketing, Sony did better in non US regions, so they used that.. In the end the 360 and Ps3 ended up being almost even I suspect this gen will too. So spin it however you want. we are months in, which one sells more is non factor right now unless you want to play fanboy.

Obviously they are having trouble selling them! I just don't see what a sale by two retailers has to do with the overall demand for the console; the NPD sales numbers for both consoles are so similar. You will note that Amazon is not participating in this price war, despite being one of the top sellers of consoles in the country.

                That's simply not true.

If you do, try to report back to chatty somewhere if Forza is worth buying. I really like the last one, but everyone says the microtransactions are atrocious.

But then again, all the weekend confirmed crew hated Ryse : Son of Rome. So I didn't get it until a couple of weeks ago, but I kind of really like it. Unfortunately, I found that I was more akin to indie Jeff Mattas' opinion on games than the rest of the crew post show.

I was going to buy it but I suddenly remembered my discount for Dell store is now 17% and not 10%, so I can get the Forza bundle with an extra controller for $6.50 more than Best Buy just for the Forza (or Titanfall) console.

Then again I could get 17% of PS4 instead maybe... if it would come up on the site on my PC and not just my phone :/

If you can get a 17% discount off of a PS4 ( that's what I'm see, I think ), go for that. I really do like the Microsoft platform philosophy in general, and the games that end up on their systems, but the PS4 is worth investing in and the Xbox hasn't gotten their crap together yet.

If you can get them both this gen, I think it would be the best solution. If I read what you were getting at right.

With a game, this is a good deal, without one, it's still a bit overpriced.

You want to interest me MS? Its easy.
      Games, games, games.
