Ghost Recon Online releases on April 10 as Ghost Recon Phantoms

Ubisoft has announced an official release for the free-to-play shooter Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online. On April 10, the game will be available on Steam under a new title: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Phantoms. "The end of open beta is a new start to the game," said producer Corey Facteau. "The difference between where the game started and the game today is so considerable that we felt we should mark it with a fresh identity. Feedback from our five million players throughout beta enabled us to continuously increase the content of the game and to improve what makes the game unique, the blending of intense shooters with the teamwork and tactical depth of MOBAs." Phantoms' three Ghost classes (Assault, Recon, and Specialist) will all receive updated designs, to reflect a new art direction. The game will also get a revamped matchmaking system, to help match online users up based on skills and gear. Facteau adds that there will be no account wipes as the game makes its transition away from beta and that players will maintain their progress. Ubisoft Paris plans to continue adding updates to Phantoms following its Steam release. Ghost Recon Phantoms is currently in open beta and can be played through a standalone client from the game's official website.
