Square Enix is giving players an extensive look into the upcoming 2.2 patch for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, titled 'Through the Maelstrom.' In addition to offering a look at some of the battles ahead, the eight-minute video also takes a glimpse into some of the patch's other notable features, including new areas, cosmetic items and glamours, gardening, and side-quests.
'Through the Maelstrom' centers around the Warriors of Light further attempting to stave off the Ascians, who threaten to unleash a new primal on the land. Side-quests follow the oddball Hildibrand and his catty sidekick, Nashu, as they search for a mysterious warrior, while also challenging players to track down the powerful Gilgamesh and defeat the formidable warrior in combat. Those looking for an even more intense challenge will also want to check out the Second Coil of Bahamut labyrinth.
There's a lot to soak in, so take a seat and watch through the full video below. Final Fantasy XIV's 2.2 patch is set to deploy on March 27 on PC and PS3.

My wife and I just cancelled our accounts to this game after 4 months as it is just too hard. The main story is tied to boss battles that require you and everyone in your group to make absolutely no mistakes so it is almost impossible to get past them with pick up groups (and my wife and I don't do Guilds until end-game). We both made it all the way to Garuda at level 44 and hit a brick wall.
