Total War: Rome 2 'Hannibal at the Gates' DLC crashes in on March 27

The next major Total War: Rome 2 expansion is 'Hannibal at the Gates' and will introduce new playable factions, a new campaign map, new units, and more, as players can begin reenacting the great conflict between Scipio and Hannibal on March 27.

Sega and The Creative Assembly have announced the second major expansion for Total War: Rome 2. Players will head into the Western Mediterranean to do battle in the 2nd Punic War with the 'Hannibal at the Gates' DLC, set to release on March 27.

'Hannibal at the Gates' will feature new playable units and three new playable factions: the Arevaci, the Lusitani, and the Syracuse. Players will reenact the great conflict between Scipio and Hannibal atop a new campaign map and a pair of new Historical Battles. Rome and Carthage will also receive a new civil tech tree, centered around diplomacy.

A separate 'significant' free content update is also set to hit Rome 2 soon. No details on this update have been revealed at this time.

'Hannibal at the Gates' will run for $14.99, with pre-orders available now on Steam. For more, check out the trailer below.
