Gearbox has detailed the steps it is taking to remaster Homeworld, and is conducting a survey on which version of a Collector's Edition it should release.

Gearbox has begun sharing more details on its Homeworld remakes, stating that the scope of the project has gone above a simple re-release. The studio has also created a survey to gauge interest in proposed Collector's Editions.

"This is more than a simple re-release or up-res--given the input we've received from fans, mod makers and series veterans, the result is full-fledged remastering of nearly all aspects alongside the archival Classic versions," reads a note on the Gearbox blog. The full list of upgrades at the official site includes high-res textures and models, support for resolutions up to 4K, remastered audio, and a combination of multiplayer modes from both games. It also includes the original versions so you can play them if you'd like.

A survey at the bottom presents two collector's editions options. Both would include the usual tchotchkes like an art book, key chain, and DLC, but the two differ on how they present a Mothership replica. One is 6" die-cast metal Mothership that would make the CE cost $75, while the other is a 12" resin version with LED lights that would drive the cost up to $100.

Gearbox won the bid for Homeworld in the THQ bankruptcy auction. In addition to the remastered versions, the studio is planning another game in the series.

Are they the ones that stole all of Ubisoft's graphics so they could update this game?

Give them back Gearbox, I worshiped at your alter for 2 years, now I want to bring Bloom Corp down in glorious E3 2012 graphics!

      I loved Homeworld, though.

You think professional game studios steal eachothers assets? You think they would get away with that? It's time to wake up, or stop trolling.

Hm... I don't see any mention of the Cataclysm expansion. Wondering if they'll hold that back for DLC.

They wont be doing Cataclysm. Something about assets being lost i think.

I'm not sure if it's so much "lost" as "not in THQ's control" (since it wasn't developed by Relic).
