Anachronox Departures

From Stomped comes the news that Seneca Menard, who has created levels , textures, models, and skins for Anachronox has left the team and has joined id Software where he will work as an artist according to Todd Hollenshead. Also, artist Lee Dotson is at Rogue working on Alice and Lee Perry - lead artist seems to have gone to Retro Studios, although that is unofficial. Now we have have this and the recent departure of the lead programmer and it doesn't appear to be going too well over at ION Storm, but of course, who wouldnt leave to work at id ;).

update Maarten: Lee Perry posted to the comments saying he is leaving, but Retro is just one of the places he has talked to - he hasn't decided where to go yet.

  • 33: Oh and while you are at it, force them to use the Quake 3 or Lith engine. Deus Ex on my p3 550, 128 meg of ram, sb live and Geforce crawls like its on the 286 AT with the turbo button turned off.

    Epic's technology strikes again!

I saw Deus Ex for the first time last weekend. We were visiting friends whose son I had given my ancient Voodoo 2 card. Remember the step up from software to hardware rendering, what that was like for you? Well, the kid absolutely had to show off his system, and so he loaded up DE on his P2 300/V2/64meg pimpmobile. And how was it? Well, as they say out in suburbia, where rap is a way of life:

Game ran smooth as butta down the ass of a ho
Polygons pumping like a bitch saying Mo'! Mo'!

Bottom line: UT tech is last generation. Maybe Ion (if there still is an ION next week) ought to license the Serious Sam engine. ;)
