"Okay, I admit it. The first Shaq-Fu was terrible," basketball player Shaquille O'Neal admits in a new promo video for Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn. Yes, that is a thing. To make it a reality, a new crowdfunding campaign seeks $450,000 on Indiegogo. "Shaq-Fu is what the original game should have been," the campaign page reads. The game promises to be a beat 'em up where players take control of a highly stylized Shaq as he battles dozens of enemies in dynamic arenas. Developer Big Deez Productions is aiming to have a combo system--one that allows players to choose from different fighting styles. While largely a brawler, the game is aiming to have a combat system deep enough for online competitive play as well. In addition to Shaq, all the boss characters in the game will be playable. Of course, $450,000 is a drop in the bucket for a basketball star like O'Neal. So, why is he asking for money? "Yes he will be investing a lot of his own time and money in this project," the campaign page points out. "The purpose of bringing the game to the public is to see how much interest there is in becoming Shaq's partner and in seeing the game happen." In addition, Shaq pledges to donate 5% of all profits from the game to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Some of the prizes to be given away to supporters include being able to play basketball with Shaq at his house, having lunch with the star, or having him record a personalized voicemail message. $15 will unlock a copy of the game, which is aiming to have a $30 retail price should it ever make it that far. Here's what the game aims to look like: If you're interested in participating in the crowdfunding efforts, you can check out the Indiegogo page. Unlike Kickstarter, any contributed moneys will go to Big Deez even if the campaign doesn't fully fund.

It sure looks a lot like Street Fighter

The proportions on his head/neck/shoulders is all sorts of wrong. I hope they tweak that at least.

I think the artstyle is awesome, at least from that one shot. It really reminds me of the aesthetic of Shaq-Fu.

I own the cart on Genesis, got it when I was like 9 or something. Even back then I thought it was a terrible fighting game (I also had Eternal Champions at the time, so it was a meaningful difference). However, I can't deny that I liked something about it. Probably the art style and presentation, which were actually pretty good if you could get over the tiny ass character models.
