The next BlazBlue game, Chrono Phantasma, is coming to PS3 on March 25th and Vita this summer. But why is there no Xbox 360 release? According to producer Toshimichi Mori, it's because of the limited space afforded by DVD.

"Chrono Phantasma doesn't fit on the disc," he said. "Basically, if you were to fit it on a disc you would have to compress it and the quality will go down and I was concerned that it would be an inferior version."

But that explanation doesn't really make sense in light of the existence of a Vita version. The largest Vita games are 4GB--well below the storage capacity of a DVD. However, Mori explained that the compression used for the handheld version wouldn't be acceptable on a large screen. "If you looked at the Vita version, you can see that the graphics have been compressed," Mori told Siliconera. "The quality for Vita is acceptable for portable systems. But if you had a Vita quality game on a home console, personally I'd be upset."

Xbox fans waiting for a new BlazBlue game will likely have to wait until an Xbox One entry is released. However, that might not be any time soon. "We don't have any information on the Xbox One hardware," Mori said. "I'm curious if Xbox One will even come out in Japan. I've been asking people about it and not one person has given me a definitive answer."

so this fighting game is bigger than say, Skyrim, Mass effect 3, or the witcher 2?

        Probably because of video clips.

Continuum Shift didn't have that much video, and animation takes a lot of time, so I'm guessing it's more about how much dialogue audio they fit in. Also, Arc has packed both English and Japanese audio into at least Continuum Shift as well as Persona 4 Arena (I haven't checked if my Steam version of Calamity Trigger has a Japanese audio option).

Now that I think of it, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift had less video than Persona 4 Arena.

This seems completely crazy, they could have made it work.
