Tony Hawk has shared more details on the new game that he mentioned last week. According to the famed skateboarder himself, it will be a mobile and tablet exclusive targeting a release this year.

In an interview with Bloomberg (via IGN) covering the broad range of Hawk's media empire, Hawk spilled the beans.

“We are working on a mobile game now,” he said. “We’re working on a game for mobile devices this year. We’ve never gone exclusively in that direction yet, so I’m excited because--with the amount of time people are spending on their phones and their tablets playing games, we’ve never had our own game in that space, so I’m excited to provide one finally.”

After Hawk mentioned the game was in development, Activision confirmed that it would be publishing but didn't give more details. Though Tony Hawk games have appeared on iOS, those have been ports of older games instead of an original one built for the platform.

What if your phone was the skateboard?

Also, what happens to Robomodo if they're not this game's developer? Is Volition hiring?

Well, you won't be playing THIS game with a controller in your hand. Remember back when that was the unveil tweet for Tony Hawk Ride in late 2008? (Check out Idke Thumbs 8, about 28 minutes in, for a stroll down memory lane.)

I'm okay with this, as there was already the HD remake after the crazy Ride and Shred experiment with the board controller. I just hooe this mobile game doesn't have an "energy" mechanic where you have to not play the game for hours after a certain time, or else in-app purchase more playtime. The new Trials mobile game is doing that with a "run out of gas" mechanic, and it's disgusting.

I'm excited for this, but hope it's more akin to the earlier games and not the newer ones.
